We have all seen the video and photos of
planes dropping food to starved people in
remote areas around the world. It is a
life saving technique used by the United
Nations and other food programs.
During the war in Sudan, Garang remembers
very well, after eating only grass for days
at a time, what it felt like to see the
planes above dropping bags of sorghum and
maize to him and the thousands of young boys
fleeing the violence in Southern Sudan.
Now that the war is over, the people of
Southern Sudan need more than the temporary
meals provided by relief organizations and
agencies. They need to develop farming
systems that will give them more than one
meal. They need a way of living that
will feed them and their descendants for
generations to come.
Pan de Diing Farm allows the people of
Panyagor to be self sufficient. The Farm
grows the staple foods necessary for varied
food preparation: SORGHUM, BEANS, GREENS,
and MAIZE.
We are
currently preparing for our
2008
Harvest.
